The 8th PWEA Conference&Exhibition has ended: Wind energy still the industry of the future

Although there is no RES Act yet, there is plenty of prospective wind energy market participants. The 8th PWEA Wind Energy Conference, concluded on 25 April 2013 in Serock near Warsaw, demonstrated that the industry not only still persists in its tremendous potential, but may face further stable development, in particular in the long term.

Two days of presentations and workshops, almost 600 participants, large-area exhibition and more than 40 exhibitors - these are the key statistics of the largest industry conference. Traditionally, Conference participants could learn the assessment of the current market situation, the latest trends and development forecasts for the wind energy market in Poland. For the first time the Conference was accompanied by Social Communication Workshops and Investment Risk Assessment Workshops.

'Similarly to the previous years we had the pleasure to host foreign VIPs, representatives of the government, numerous wind energy industry companies and experts', said PWEA Director, Ewa Kurdyła. - 'The PWEA Conference&Exhibition is the only event comprehensively demonstrating how much wind energy may contribute to the Polish energy sector and the Polish economy. However, the success of the Conference is not only a claim to fame, but also tremendous responsibility and challenge for PWEA'.

The Conference&Exhibition was attended by representatives of companies from all around Europe, including developers, investors, component manufacturers and representatives of energy distribution sector as well as industry associations. During the Conference the prestigious IREW Prize was awarded to Karolina Baca-Pogorzelska from Rzeczpospolita.

PWEA Director's Letter - Ewa Kurdyła

Ladies and Gentlemen,
for more than a year now the future of the wind energy sector is doubtful. The lack of the new RES Act, substantial falls on the “green certificates” market or a halt to new investments results in the industry’s concerns. The threat of a collapse on the RES market resulted in Polish decision-makers becoming aware of a single fact – either they rapidly create a stable legal framework or we can forget billions of investments in unconventional energy sources in Poland.

In 2013 the Polish Wind Energy Association faces new challenges – the integration of the renewable energy sector, experts, opinion leaders and decision-makers to develop final solutions regulating the green energy market.

Serock will soon become the European wind energy capital for two days, and will bring a strong and audible voice for the development of renewable energy sources in Poland. This will be made possible by the PWEA Conference&Exhibition, which will be held on 24-25 April 2013 in Serock near Warsaw. The Conferences to date, attended by eminent representatives of the industry, many times demonstrated that PWEA voice does matter in legislative procedures. This time the cooperation inside the industry and cooperation with external partners may be of key importance for the creation of a friendly environment for further industry development.

The programme of this year’s Conference will be mostly dedicated to the analysis of effects of implementation of the RES Act and will not only constitute a source of knowledge, but a platform for exchange of experiences and reliable discussion. Even if we do have a contingency plan, the reality may surprise us. Sometimes a helping hand of an external expert proves to be the only rescue. It is our intention to make our Conference not only the next important step in the social dialogue concerning the Act, but also a practical “roadmap” to successful completion of investments in the new legal environment.

Dear Sirs, we are pleased to inform you that a month before the event, the exhibition space has already been sold out. Today among the participants we can see already a strong representation of the industry, which every day grows.

You are kindly invited to register for the PWEA 2013 Conference and Exhibition and benefit from many discounts developed specially for you!

With kind regards,

Ewa Kurdyła
Director of the Polish Wind Energy Association
